Alco Power Revere Gear

Kits for Alco power reverse gear, including cab control, are available in two styles: the original type "H" and a long-stroke model. Of special interest, both kits include drawings showing how to fabricate double-machined, totally sealing piston rings.

Type "H"

This kit is for the original version of the Alco type "H" reverse gear. The kit contains 9 lost wax castings in silicon bronze: cylinder, cylinder head, body, packing gland, valve body, valve cover, control lever, floating lever, and cross head arm. The cylinder has the words "ALCO REVERSE GEAR TYPE H" cast in. The stainless steel parts in the kit are: ground & polished piston rod, control quadrant, control lever locking slide, springs, and 10 bolting studs. Other items include: 2 clevis pins, six 3-48 Allen head high-strength screws, and 3 locking nuts. Finally, the kit includes 21 drawings and machining instructions for making all parts.

• Bore = 1.5" Diameter
• L = 7.75"
• H = 3.0"
• D = 2.5"
• Stroke = 2.25" to 2.5" (or less)

Long Stroke Model

This kit is for one of the original versions of the Alco type reverse gear. This new model has a 2.75" to 2.875" stroke, which can be easily modified to 3.0". The kit contains 9 lost wax castings in silicon bronze: cylinder, cylinder head, body, packing gland, valve body, valve cover, control lever, floating lever, and cross head arm. The cylinder has the words "ALCO REVERSE GEAR" cast in. The stainless steel parts in the kit are: ground & polished piston rod, control quadrant, control lever locking slide, springs, and 10 bolting studs.
